It was a function of overdoing admission in 22,23. Multiple conversations with folks in this space points to -
- Due to covid and consulate shutdowns, university monies were drying up, leading to high admit volume in ‘22 and ‘23
- With general market tightening and university coffers sufficiently filled up, there is tightening on visa end.
25-26 will normalise again.
- Also significantly higher visa rejections in the Hyd and Chennai belt, over Mumbai and Delhi (anecdotally).

Lived in the US for 12 and been to 50+ countries as a consultant. Since 2014, every single vacation has been in SE Asia purely for convenience. Being time strapped and with small kids, SE Asia offers brilliant places! Maybe now I may restart looking at Europe, but even that may be occasional coz most kids don’t appreciate EU.
EU really needs to rethink its visa process. Or maybe not, and we keep spending our money elsewhere.

@geekyranjit I am a long term apple user who keeps trying to switch to android only to return. I hate the closed apple ecosystem but I find consistent reliability issues on android phones - OnePlus was the last good one before they fell! My last OnePlus just wouldn’t pick calls!

@JioCare new JioFibre installation. Paid twice since technician insisted the first one did not come through! Now its a double payment and unable to reach technician.. plus there is no call centre to speak to anyone. This is first experience with Jio and I am already thrilled!

@deedydas Having lived in the Bay Area for 5 years, I felt it is way more prevalent there than India (I returned in 2014)

Bay Area has way more homogenous people who are used to measuring wealth - where is your house, condo/independent home, where do your kids go to school etc.,

@periyavar_2 Cost of living in chennai (assuming you don't live extravagant), maxes out at 2 lacs excl car emi and Intl travel. If you take 1-1.5L for that, 3-4L allows for a good lifestyle.
Beyond that rest comes to what you believe you need to save for the future.

@HariPyt Naukri is such a default hiring platform that it's a monopoly. They keep hiking prices by 20-30% each renewal and it's hard to stop. Monster, linkedin etc are a far cry on breadth of profiles.

@airvistara love your inflight experience but you really need to move to aero bridges or at a minimum ramps! Delhi to Chennai flights on both directions were the same. NOT ok for a premium airline.
