We write about/from Guwahati focussing on more-than-human entanglements to briefly outline how animals reveal otherwise hidden urban places, processes & state logics that not only affect animal-human lives but decidedly shape the city's own urban trajectory @ScotGeogJournal 1/n
In traditional Kashmiri architecture, these roof-corner wooden ornaments are called Dur - often described as the "earrings" of Kashmiri houses.

@thar_ol@meeraroohar@kshmirmemories That way let's make all of India less Brahminised and fall back to pagan native religions? Stop this weird divisive argument.
@thar_ol@meeraroohar@kshmirmemories Languages and words don't have religions. It's an Indic word, yes, that originated in the Indian subcontinent. Rishi means Sages. Saptarishi refers to the seven revered sages in Vedic history. Each star in the Ursa Major is named after them.
@thar_ol@meeraroohar@kshmirmemories Saptarishi is the name of the constellation Big dipper or Ursa major as its called in Kashmiri and other Indic languages.
@thar_ol@meeraroohar@kshmirmemories Yes but Kashmiri uses the same names but doesn't follow Vikram Samvat. It follows the Saptarishi Neychapatir (Spatarishi Calendar) which traces the movement of the moon in the constellation Big Dipper. We just entered our new year 5101 last month.
@meeraroohar@kshmirmemories Because they come from old sanskrit which affected both Koshur te Panjaeb. Did not come from Punjabi. Independent evolution.
@kshmirmemories This is incorrect. The names are correct but they don't correspond to Gregorian months used in the English word. Tshithur falls between mid-March and mid-April and is the first month and then all correspond accordingly. The last month being Phagan/Phagun, mid-Feb to mid-march.

A great opportunity for global research exposure.
@Junaid_Mattu Ajmer and Nizamuddin are Sufi shrines of local saints and not a mosque or temple. I am not in support of any kind of ban or permission seeking for visiting a place. It's bizarre when one does it, it's still bizarre when everyone does it. So.
@Junaid_Mattu@shehryar_khanum You putting this up here shows not only your frustration but also your lack of understanding of the fabric of human existence. If you think this question matters given the destruction and death in Iran, it's for generating unnecessary polarisations. This is irrelevant.
