Crazy but true. If the #Royals won just *A THIRD* of the games that they lost in the 8th inning or later this year, they’d currently own a playoff spot. If they just held on to all their 9th inning leads, they’d have a playoff spot. A bad bullpen made that big of a difference.
Bob Knight shares the 4 ingredients of discipline.
"My definition of discipline: Do what has to be done, when it has to be done, as well as it can be done - and do it that way all the time."
Discipline is not a moment - it's something you choose for yourself.
1: Do what has to be done → Action
Know the task. Execute the task. No excuses.
2: When it has to be done → Timing
Procrastination is the enemy. Deadlines aren't suggestions.
3: As well as it can be done → Standard
Not halfway. Not good enough. As well as it can be done.
4: Do it that way all the time → Consistency
Not when it's easy. Not when you're motivated. All the time.
Discipline is choosing temporary discomfort for long-term reward.
It's a commitment to yourself - and holding yourself to it.

Coach K shares a universal truth about failure, resilience, and growth.
"When you're getting your butt kicked, it's called changing a limit."
"So many parents today don't allow their kids to change limits...They're worried about them failing instead of learning. You learn through the experience of failure and success."
Growth requires discomfort. You have to be willing to look bad before you get better.
The problem isn't failure - it's protecting people from it.
"Failure was never a destination."
You can't grow without accepting that there will be challenges and adversity.

Watching an inside the park home run is one of the most exciting plays in baseball. Seeing Pete-Crow Armstrong hit one while only taking 8 seconds from first base to homeplate is absolutely insane to me.
