Did you know?... Students in the Early Childhood Education program experience 100 hours of working with young children in classrooms before even starting student teaching! #NowYouKnow
Great turn out last night for the Student Elementary and Early Childhood Association's annual Trunk-or-Treat. Many students came together to create a safe and fun environment for Cedar Valley's little ones to trick-or-treat!
Yes. Participating in the twitter chats have been a great experience so far! I can't wait to do more. I am so thankful other educators are happy to have us pre service teachers participating! #NCTEchat#UNILited
A6: I think t's important for students 2 believe in what they want 2 read. If they are passionate about a book I want them to share with me why it resonates with them. I want students to know that I am willing to hear them out & not turn them away from a book #NCTEchat#UNILited
A5: I havenโt โcelebratedโ #BannedBooksWeek. Even as an elementary student myself, I never remember celebrating my freedom to read. So I really want to bring that awareness to my future students. #NCTEchat#UNILited
A4: I think that means that as educators we are supposed to know our students and determine what topics/books our students can handle. The age appropriateness doesnโt necessarily mean a numerical number but it takes into consideration a bunch of things! #NCTEchat#UNILited
I love your last sentence! Reading is supposed to open doors to shed light on multiple topics. As educators we aren't trying to get students to think/believe something #NCTEchat
A3: In general, I think itโs important for people to realize that we donโt โteachโ texts. We read them to understand standards, skills, and people. What we read isnโt how weโre supposed to think or behave. We arenโt trying to brainwash anyone. #nctechat
A3. Through our Rationales for Teaching Challenged Books, our Intellectual Freedom Center offers advice, documents, and other support to teachers faced with challenges to literary works, films and videos, drama productions, or teaching methods. https://t.co/BYRYWNEU9R #NCTEchat
