This is spiritual bypassing—and it's a form he's well practiced in. It is THE VERY PATTERN that enables dysfunction and abuse over and over in the church.

The church, of ALL places, should be capable of calling leaders to a higher standard of maturity, and Lance should be positioned to do it. But he can't, because the church cannot do in the world what it has failed to do within itself: hold leaders accountable in matters of integrity, conduct, and abuse.
