Katherine Hardy and lab alumni Brad Weiler gave great presentations this morning! Katherine discussed energetic impacts to Acropora species of hosting Durusdinium trenchii, and Bradley shared his data on diseased coral pathobiomes.

Two weeks ago, Diploria labyrinthiformis (DLAB) spawned on Florida’s reefs and even in some spawning laboratories. @floridaaquarium, a partner at @XREEFS, achieved laboratory induced spawning!

Lab members watched over Diploria labrynthiformis in the lab and in the field in hopes of collecting coral gametes.

We are pleased to announce that the DLAB in our Spawning Lab successfully spawned, and our field team was able to collect wild spawn as well.

PhD student @katherinehardyy and Lab intern Maddie Praxl are sampling #coral juveniles to determine algal #symbiont species before outplanting. They will track survivorship, and symbiont composition.
