I personally know Metlev who's quoted in the screenshots — poor choice of words from him, and not accurate re: his comment about protests on the streets.

@laurentzeimes @0xovermillion @Wassie2835 ~200k Estonian-Russians and Russian-Estonians have not had an issue learning B1 level of Estonian language. And they have applied and gotten the citizenship. The 80k minority also have that choice.

If Estonia did not have the language requirement, we would have become a province of Russia by now. And this is what are our laws are designed to prevent.

sidenote: I don't think it's necessarily wise to change the constitution because of "current global affairs". in fact, the leaders should have had the backbone to do it sooner. better late than never tho

@laurentzeimes @Wassie2835 there is proof that populations who identify as russian, don't want to give up their russian citizenship, yet reside in other countries have been used as a tool to get pro-rus parties into power. this poses an existential threat to countries like Estonia.

I couldn't find much about the results, except a couple news pieces about two tests where the sample size is ~30 drivers. About half chose the timeout.
