Excited to share that next week I will be starting my new job as Lecturer in the School of Psychology at UEA! Sad to be leaving my amazing team in Aberdeen, especially @actpredictlab who has put up with me for all these years! But excited for my next chapter... 🤓
This is a brilliant opportunity for a finishing PhD student or postdoc! Andrew is wonderful to work with and the project is really exciting! Please apply!!!
To celebrate our brand new look, we’re running two competitions - one for our researchers and one for our participants!
For researchers, enter now by quoting this tweet and sharing your favourite findings from a study you ran on Prolific ❤️

Another lab preprint, with @EleonoraParrot1, @katmcdonough2
We show that (1) imagery can be thought of as predicted perception, (2) that it induces similar perceptual biases as other motion expectations, and (3) that imagining scenes elicits expectations how others act within it
Do robot sounds affect human perception & prediction of robot actions? With @actpredictlab & @robo_elena our preprint https://t.co/Y2PsuhA69t shows subtle changes to sound modulates localisation responses & pushes real-time perception into the predicted future of robot actions.
Imagination as predictive perception: mental imagery predictively biases perceptual judgments of observed action kinematics ✨

Prior expectations still shape activity in the sensory brain - even when the world tells us our predictions won't come true.
Pleased to see this paper just accepted at @JOCN_Journal.

Our new paper out today in @RSocPublishing#OpenScience with @actpredictlab is a pre-registered online replication of our previous work showing that prior expectations of others' actions guide, and ultimately bias, our perception of their behaviour https://t.co/errOGN03OH
Together, these results support predictive processing/Bayesian theories of social perception, therefore providing an important advance to our understanding of the underlying mechanisms of social perception.
