From @GovAbbott_TX data center audit PR last week:

“ERCOT is currently considering approximately over 474 gigawatts of requests to connect to the Texas grid, more than five times Texas’ record peak electricity demand for ERCOT. Approximately 90 percent of the new power requests are data centers.”

For obvious reasons, there also continues to be prioritization of projects with BTM power plans, i.e. lower ERCOT demand mix.

Still bullish BTM generation while utility scale catches up. The challenge is choosing which cos have the management team and supply chain to deliver projects on time.

@DataEngineer95 @elonmusk Interesting, I would have assumed other sensor types would be more effective for that. Are there certain types/sizes of debris that are better tracked with cameras? Ex. is that the primary/sole tracking for small debris? Assuming most large debris can be tracked from the ground.

Looking back at this again, the design choice of a typewriter-style font was likely very intentional. It’s imperfect and humanizing. Every detail matters when making such an important point.

Permissionless innovation is the only way to win

This is concerning. For the first time, a Chinese model Kimi K3 has taken #1 on the Frontend Code Arena and is scoring at or near the frontier on other benchmarks.

Meanwhile America is tying itself in knots: politicians and bureaucrats are banning new data centers, piling on state regulations, and pushing for new federal agencies to pre-approve frontier models.

This is how you lose the AI race. The rest of the world won’t play by our rules if we bog ourselves down. Permissionless innovation is how America won the internet and became the technological envy of the world. We can do it again with AI -- while addressing risks in a targeted way -- or we’ll watch our lead evaporate.
