Ever wonder why you have to feel uncomfortable before you get the 'feel-good' sensation that often follows a vigorous workout or a sauna session?
Our brain releases dynorphin - an opioid that is responsible for that dysphoric feeling but it also regulates our body's response to heat.
But it also instigates biological feedback by sensitizing the mu-opioid receptors in the brain to beta-endorphins, the chemicals responsible for the euphoric post-exercise or sauna 'high.'
Regular engagement in activities that elevate dynorphin levels, therefore, enhances our brain's sensitivity to these pleasure-inducing endorphins, increasing the rewarding and mood-boosting effects of exercise and heat exposure over time.
You would think a corporation of @NandosUK size would have sufficient garbage collection procedures in place. Unfortunately this is what residents living above a Nandos have to walk past when entering or leaving their home. #disgusting#garbage#nandos#verminproblems
New paper in @NatureMedicine also says meat causes diabetes. How, exactly? Meat contains no glucose. Glucose (sugar) is what drives diabetes.
High protein can lead to small blood sugar increases but nothing like grains.
Also this:
Be careful of subjecting yourself to a pre-defined social category that becomes the bedrock of your identity. With this you may be lured to follow a pre-defined script & may reject the inordinate task of becoming uniquely you; finding your own way & developing your individuality.
DSM defined 'mental disorder' as a 'dysfunction in the person' - as if suffering stems from a faulty self. This of course is pure ideology, with no objective evidence to support it - an ideology erasing any notion that our suffering may have meaning or something vital to teach.
A sneak peek clip from my upcoming podcast release with @donlayman where he discusses the difference between animal-based and plant-based protein sources. You’ll need more plant-based protein.
This episode will be released this upcoming Monday, September 26th, 2022.
Wanted to add that I'm referencing ALL #Neurodivergent people when it comes to being ghosted or why we ghost. I think the general population still thinks of "neurodivergent" as strictly encompassing stereotypical ADHD/Autistic traits.
@honestburgers@ubereats_uk WHY did you change to uber eats? 😭 I used to order deliveries from you on a weekly basis and now I won’t be able to enjoy those anymore as I refuse to use Uber Eats on the basis of their mistreatment of customers and unreliable service. 👎🏻
This entire thread is an apt summary of "What's Wrong With Western Workplace Culture" and probably one of the main reasons for the epidemic of mental health and stress related disorders. I'm not ASD and most of these points curdle my stomach. 🤦♀️ #toxicworkplaceculture
