#EDLD567 it was interesting to me to read the section on due process. Did the consoler receive her due process before termination? She certainly acted unethically. Does that make a difference?

@LeanneMichaele It is difficult to know what needs to be monitored and how to effectively do so. Adminstrators are facing new challenges regarding social media with little training on best practices. Had her comment been more boarderline this would have been a much more difficult call #EDLD567

@ahles_joel Certainly Monica’s perspective here was that she “took it back” by deleting the post. We stress digital footprint in our citizenship curriculum. Once you put it out there you can’t take it back. Termination seemed like the appropriate response. #EDLD567

@ahles_joel @bstoltzy1 Acceptable use policies should contain clauses about social media. Schools are no longer isolated. You don’t stop being a teacher when you leave the building. Most conflicts I dealt with last year had some form of social media component fueling the conflict #EDLD567

#EDLD567 interestingly this case study had much more going on then just mold. The community certainly had a section of parents wishing for the good ole days and uncomfortable with the new administration. They saw their opportunity and struck. This wasn’t about mold.

U9: media certainly can be a friend or a foe. PR for schools is such a complex thing. The initial reaction to the mold seemed to suffice until the article printed. Much more under the surface than mold spore. #EDLD567

@ahles_joel I agree. It’s hard to communicate something you don’t know. Certainly there was a problem that needed addressing. The community didn’t seem to get upset until it was January and the newspaper article surfaced...maybe his response was initially fine. #EDLD567

This case study is such an interesting one. One point I think that could be made is whether or not there are alternative ways to keep kids off drugs that are religion neutral that should be explored as a reason to decline at this time. #EDLD567
