@kallenbergera @LeanneMichaele #edld567 Unfortunately we are always going to have a couple people to stir up problems and drama no matter what you do. Good point.
@lacey_nevins I agree. I think it was a bit extreme. Sometimes you just have to take a step back and calm down over the situation before you make a rash decision like this. #edld567
#edld567 Un11-As an admin, this is something that needs to be addressed & carefully worded social media expectations must be in the staff handbook along with consequences. Also, in a tragedy like this, they are going to need good counselors like Monica available to help counsel.
#edld567 Un11-This is hard. Personal & professional should stay separated, but as a professional, you should remember that you are a role model & people are watching. With that being said, teachers seem to get hit harder than other community professionals with this issue.
@nancy_jojo Involving a professional from the health dept to communicate info is a great idea! This will create consistent answers too which will help parents and staff stay on the same page rather than everyone googling what could happen to them and seeing the worst case scenario. #edld567
@hayleyjdonovan#edld567 I would be one of those upset parents. You must keep your community informed, otherwise it looks like you are trying to hide something and you lose trust amongst them.
@nancy_jojo @mcgill678ms #edld567 I can't imagine an employee going to the media just because of this one thing. I think you are right that there had to be some sort of issues prior to this and it was the icing on the cake for this employee which causes them to start trouble involving the media.
@bstoltzy1 #edld567 Yes! You must have open communication with parents and the community regarding such issues. Not that it was right, but the teacher that went to the paper was probably upset about Jeff not informing the public, students, & staff like he should have too.
MOLD! I can't believe Jeff didn't say something right away! He should not have waited for the results before notifying people. This is something that should have been discussed asap while stating they were investigating & in time he would have an answer. #edld567
@tamioneill It is most definitely a fine line and he needs to be cautious in his decision making while confirming he isn't violating any laws. #EDLD567
@sharedliteracy Yes, the school lawyer is the best bet for getting a straight-forward answer toward the legality of the situation. Once that is addressed, he can determine what would be best for the school/community. #EDLD567
@hayleyjdonovan @sharedliteracy Yes, this is a very tricky situation that Sid needs to take time to look into and address before jumping the gun on the decision. #edld567
@mcgill678ms Yes, not only the board but the other admin in the area who have agreed to this are great people to bounce ideas and thoughts off of and see where they are sitting in this situation as well. #EDLD567
@nancy_jojo Absolutely! He needs to slow down and not make quick rash decisions. Whether or not he is okay with it, he needs to address whether he is breaking any policy or law if he does decide to allow it. He needs to address this with the board. #edld567
