If in Ewing ISD, I'd acknowledge elephant in room during after-school meeting and remind staff that what they post can be seen even if only up for a short time. Remind them they represent school. Review policy. Don't wait though, meet quickly. #edld567

@ClaridgeHiller Professional development and sharing policy with all staff members is critical so staff do not put themselves in these situations or if they choose to they already know the consequences. Great post! #edld567
@Timberteach We are always held to higher standards, much like student athletes and or professional athletes are too. When you serve public that’s what you are held to. We are in the public eye. #EDLD567
U11 #1. Implications in this case are a lack of awareness on ethical moral behavior on personal time. PD needs to remind researchers and staff of behavior outside the school and the dangers of misbehavior or conduct. Educators are role models every minute, every day. #EDLD567
U11#1 It is possible for educators to balance beliefs and morals. Any time you stand for betterment of humans you can’t go wrong. But demeaning negative language and action is against our ethical code as educators. #EDLD567
@mcgill678ms #EDLD567 I 100% agree. I see many of my colleagues with current students as 'friends' on social media. I do not personally believe this to be a good idea for many reasons. Policy must be written and teaching staff trained & updated.

@Timberteach #EDLD567 I know that this is sometimes an unpopular view, but having well over a decade of experience as an educator, I've come to believe it is vital, even if unfair, that we hold ourselves & our actions inside/outside of school hours, to high standards.
