U11- PD is critical for educators on this issue. I believe in freedom of speech BUT we are held to a higher standard and must be careful what we say always. Schools need specific policies in regards to social media and must share them with teachers asap after hiring #edld567

@SabrinaBeed I have had conversations with staff on this issue. I think it puts you in a tough spot. We are role models every day and if you share your personal Facebook or whatever you are putting yourself out there even more. Bad idea. #edld567

U11 as educators we must be careful and keep our personal views out of the school system. We must educate students on all sides but not show our own beliefs #edld567

Although waiting on results, I think waiting a month after the first outbreak was too long for a staff meeting and parent consult of sick kids. Heads up as to what steps the district were taking to solve the problem would have eased fears at the beginning #edld567

@LeanneMichaele @bstoltzy1 The local health dept would have been a great idea. Being proactive was the key. Even if he wasn't sure what was going on showing community he was working on solving the problem would have helped when things got stirred up. #edld567

@kberger00 Change is hard for people it is key that the community support new admin and work to build up the school instead of finding ways to tear it down. New admin should have started building relationships with community so when problems struck they were able to support them. #edld567

@mclawson33 Communication is key!! You must keep staff, students, and parents informed especially in a circumstance where people can get sick. If you get ahead of the problem and show the steps you are taking you will alleviate many fears. #edld567

I find disappointment that a staff member went to the newspaper, that person needs to be called out. Talking with staff again when the newspaper article came out would clear up miscommunication. Smith needs an open door policy for staff and parents that have concerns. #edld567

@hayleyjdonovan Freedom of speech is definitely an issue here but it would have been nice if staff had discussed the issue with admin first before going to the paper. I don't believe you can discipline but a conversation should take place in my mind #edld567
