The Earth just experienced FOUR significant earthquakes in a single day.
First, it was a Magnitude 5.6 in California’s Redwood Valley.
Then, 7 hours later, a devastating “double” quake inflicted massive destruction in northern Venezuela. The first one at Magnitude 7.2, followed by an even larger Magnitude 7.5 only 39 SECONDS later.
Finally, a mere 25 minutes after the Venezuela twins, a Magnitude 6.9 marine earthquake struck offshore of Kuji, Japan.
Very rare to see this much seismic activity across the globe in such a short period of time.
Let me be really clear about what just happened.
The head of the U.S. Postal Service sat in front of the United States Senate and said the quiet part loud: no voter list, no mail ballots. Full stop.
You don’t get to look away from this one.
This is a proposed rule. It’s being fought in court. But the fact that it was said — that a federal official openly threatened to withhold your ballot — that matters.
Your vote is yours. Not the administration’s. Not USPS’s. Yours.
Stay informed. Stay loud.
Christian Nationalism is one of the most dangerous heresies of our time. As Christ's followers, finding our identity anywhere other than in Christ, is idolatry.
When my husband and I were preparing to go to Zambia as missionaries, we were told to beware of the dangers the African people face with syncretism, mixing their traditional religions with Christianity, rather than becoming totally immersed in Christ/Christianity.
And look what we've done here in the U.S.! There is a "branch" of Christianity calling themselves "Christian Nationalists." This is exactly what we were warned about in missionary training. And this is anathema to being faithful followers of Christ.
Scripture tells us that our home is not here, as Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world." Our identity is in Him, not in our nation. Yes, we are blessed to live in the U.S., but we place our souls in danger when we lift our patriotism to be on par with our faith, and our worship of Christ. May Christ forgive us.
The Pentagon is the only place in America where you can fail 8 audits in a row, admit you’ll fail the next few & still get handed more money than you asked for.
But let a family need help buying groceries and suddenly it’s a lecture about hard work, responsibility & bootstraps.

There’s no better feeling for a son than making your mother proud. My mom is 90 years old and has been waiting for this moment since I started my career. Seeing the joy this project has brought her is something I’ll never forget.

54 years ago today, the Watergate scandal broke.
At a moment when the country needed courage and conviction, Houston’s Barbara Jordan rose to the occasion. She reminded America that the Constitution matters, that no one is above the law, and that public service demands accountability.
Her legacy continues to guide Texas’s 18th District and our country.

It’s not their flag - it’s ours. It’s a proud American symbol, and it doesn’t belong to Trump or MAGA. This weekend, take back our flag and share with us how you’re displaying your patriotism #TakeBackTheFlag
On this day in 1963, civil rights leader and organizer #MedgarEvers was assassinated by a white supremacist in the driveway of his home. We remember his legacy and honor his family, including his wife, #MyrlieEversWilliams, who was a dear friend of our founder, #CorettaScottKing.

To everyone so eager to cancel someone for a tattoo they got at age 22, a drunk text, a selfie they took in the middle of a mental health crisis:
Show us your laptop.
Show us your iCloud.
Open your entire digital life to your worst enemy. No context. No filter. No explanation.
You won’t.
You won’t because you know what I know. Any one of us, frozen at our worst moment, photographed in our lowest hour, looks like a monster. Looks like a stranger. Looks like someone who deserves to be cast out.
That is not who we are.
My mom and baby sister were killed in a car accident when I was just a kid. Cancer took my brother Beau, my best friend and my rock. I battled alcoholism. I battled addiction. I chose the coward’s way out more times than I can count.
For years I believed the defining chapters of my life were written by tragedy, loss, and shame.
I no longer believe that.
Pain can shape us. Loss can humble us. Failures can leave scars that never fully fade. But none of them have the authority to define us.
And it sure as hell ain’t the critic that counts.
That authority belongs to us alone-the person in the arena.
Every setback presents a choice. Play the victim, or cut the bullshit and take ownership for who we become next.
Life does not determine our character. It reveals it.
Again and again we are asked the same question. When shit happens, what next?
We are not defined by what happened to us. We are not defined by the worst photo, the worst text, the worst tattoo, the worst night. We are defined by the person we choose to become. And by the courage to choose that person, every single day.
So before you reach for the gavel - show us your laptop.
You won’t.
The whole world saw mine. And I am still here. Still becoming. Still choosing. Still standing.
That is the only definition that matters.
In America today, we rank 34th out of 35 countries in childhood poverty and millions of children are food insecure.
Maybe, just maybe, my Republican colleagues would consider holding a single hearing about how we improve the lives of American kids.
