Unwise rant: to those expressing unqualified opinions on running a business. 🤬
(This is NOT directed at all employed people, only those expressing unqualified opinions).
It’s very frustrating to read endless business opinions from people who have never run a business and or had to find the money for payroll when clients haven’t paid on time.
Just like I will never know what it’s like to deliver a baby (and hence would never be stupid enough to offer an utterly unqualified opinion on it), if you’ve never employed people and never intend to, you’ll never know what it’s like to be an employer.
It’s just like employed work, but with much more responsibility and more stress and more uncertainty.
So it’s actually nothing like the luxurious position of employment.
So please, STFU with your opinions unless you have ever created employment and accepted the burden of responsibility for paying your staff, no matter what happens.
Seriously.
Business owners all made their own choices to become business owners and they accept the risks and rewards. So no sympathy is expected.
But hearing opinions on being an employer from employees, is like a kid judging their parents for parenting choices. They may be good or bad, but you’re doing your best and it’s harder than you’ll ever know, until you do it.
You made your choice to be employed.
If you’re unhappy with your job or pay, and you’re a reliable and enthusiastic employee, look for another job, because you’ll be welcomed elsewhere.
Or, if you think being an employer is such an easy ride, I recommend you try it.
What’s stopping you?
We are, for now, still living in a country where you can start a small business very easily.
So please stop acting as if you know what it’s like for employers. You don’t and you never will unless you become one.
There. Sorry. That’s better. Needed to offload that.
Happy New Year. Just a little reminder that from January 7th BBC4 are repeating Early Doors. The show will then also be available on iplayer.
Best wishes for 2023. To the regiment 🍻
All right, listen up guys. 'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, except... the four assholes coming in the rear in standard two-by-two cover formation
A rather wet day in Rutland today so here's some sunshine from earlier in the week at the Welland Valley Viaduct on the border of #Rutland and #Northamptonshire at #sunset
