🌟 A Little Girl’s 57 Cents That Still Inspires Today 🌟
In the 1880s, 6-year-old Hattie May Wiatt stood outside a packed Philadelphia Sunday school—no room for her. Pastor Russell Conwell carried her in and promised they’d build bigger someday.
Sadly, Hattie died in 1886. Her mother found 57 cents under her pillow, saved with a note: “To help build a bigger church so more children can attend Sunday school.”
Pastor Conwell shared the story, sold the pennies to raise $250, and formed the Wiatt Mite Society, inspired by the widow’s mite Bible story.
That money bought a house for classes the start of Temple College, which grew into Temple University and helped launch Temple University Hospital.
The society finished its work once the goal was met, but Hattie’s small, loving gift continues to multiply through these thriving institutions.
A powerful reminder: no act of kindness is too small! 💛

People tend to think that they have to be funny, witty or incisive on stage. You don’t. You just have to be honest. If you can be intimate and give the inside story – emotions, doubts, struggles, fears, the lot – then people will respond. @BearGrylls
