“You don’t look terrible. You’re fire just like that. Don’t ever do that again.” 🥹
BREAKING: I just signed the bill to extend postpartum coverage for Wisconsin moms from a lousy 60 days to one full year after giving birth.
I promised I'd never stop fighting to make sure moms and babies had the postpartum care they need, and today, I delivered on that promise.
🚨 ER NURSE WARNS FENTANYL IS NOW HIDING INSIDE VAPES — 19 YEAR OLD DEAD AFTER ONE PENCIL TIP SIZED HIT
An ER nurse speaking directly to the camera says he worked a rare overnight shift and treated a 19-year-old who had been vaping with friends.
According to him, the cartridge likely contained fentanyl.
He says the amount involved was about the size of the lead on the tip of a pencil.
Friends told doctors the teen collapsed almost immediately.
Pinpoint pupils.
Respiratory depression.
Completely hypoxic by the time EMS brought him in.
Narcan was given.
It didn’t wake him up.
By 5:45 AM, the nurse says hospital staff had to deliver the words no parent ever wants to hear.
“He didn’t make it. You won’t talk to him again. You won’t see him again.”
The nurse warns substances like this are flooding markets across the United States, and says people may be making permanent decisions based on temporary choices.
His message was blunt:
“I don’t know if there’s a careful way to vape or smoke anymore.”
How is anyone supposed to know what’s actually inside a vape cartridge now?
“Can I bring my baby to the interview?”
The message came in at 11 PM:
“Hi, I have an interview with you tomorrow at 2 PM. My childcare fell through. Can I bring my 8-month-old? I understand if you need to reschedule.”
Old me would have rescheduled.
Unprofessional. Distraction. Red flag.
New me replied:
“Absolutely. See you tomorrow.”
She showed up with her baby on her hip.
She apologized three times before even sitting down.
Ten minutes in, the baby started crying.
She tried to soothe him while answering questions.
She apologized again.
I stopped the interview and said:
“Hey. You’re managing a fussy baby, answering complex questions, and staying calm under pressure. That’s literally the job. Handling chaos while staying professional. You’re already proving you can do it.”
Her eyes filled with tears.
We hired her.
She’s been with us for a year now.
The most reliable team member we have.
Why?
Because when you’re used to handling a screaming infant at 3 AM and still showing up to work the next day, workplace stress feels like nothing.
Working parents, especially mothers, are some of the most organized, efficient, and resilient people you’ll ever hire.
Yet we lose them because our hiring processes are built for people with zero caregiving responsibilities.
If your interview process can’t accommodate a parent facing a childcare issue, you’re not filtering for professionalism.
You’re filtering for privilege.
I grew up in the DMV & graduated from a deaf high school in DC. I’ve seen youth programs work—helping teens stay off the streets & out of trouble. But funding is shrinking. DC must invest more in youth programs to truly reduce youth crime. #DCYouth#PublicSafety#FundOurFuture
A few days ago, a gang of about a dozen young men tried to assault a woman in her car at night in DC.
A @Doge team member saw what was happening, ran to defend her and was severely beaten to the point of concussion, but he saved her.
It is time to federalize DC.
#SIRENS I don’t like Simone, BUT I understand her. She did all that bootlicking and ass kissing just to be kicked to the curb for something that wasn’t her fault. With no other option besides going back to Buffalo with her dad—too traumatic for words—she did what she had to do.🤷🏾♀️
#Whitepeople-this is white a lot of us don’t like or respect the police.
#Blackpeople-this is why we should know the laws, know our rights, and #VOTE!
This incident involves #LindaJones, an #attorney, who faced harassment from a #policeofficer who underestimated her knowledge of the law. The officer should have simply acknowledged his mistake and moved on. I sincerely hope that Linda Jones takes legal action against this #police department. With all #civilrights division cases now closed, it’s uncertain how far this will progress. However, this is just the beginning; officers already seem to believe they have complete #immunity with #trump back in office, and unfortunately, it is the Black community that often bears the brunt of such policing.
