@susangbarber It was going downhill before the pandemic and the pandemic just accelerated a broken system to be more broken. Our system is not even close to being funded to function in a way that can address the problems faced by students and teachers. It’s grossly ignored.
@heymrsbond Our school system is a model of a factory and a prison combined. I’ve been teaching for 25 years and love it, but the system and the set up is grossly underfunded and archaic. I feel like the kids we that more. They also see their families struggling more and so hope is evasive.
@heymrsbond It would mean taping pieces together, but https://t.co/NNKUiqIJqE is free to use and just uses your printer. I use it for posters that I need for short term. Very easy and convenient.
@marlene4719 Rather than belittle her for how she chose to earn a living, I would rather belittle her for supporting a racist, bigoted, misogynistic man and standing by his side while he committed the biggest act of treason we’ve seen in the modern era.
@heymrsbond Our district paid for us to attend webinars as a group and then paid for us to implement what we learned. They brought in Google, Soundtrap, and other reps from platforms to offer a menu of PD. We got paid for all of it.
@heymrsbond I advise introducing basic and complex sentence frames to show how writing can look in non-humanities based classes. Often students are asked to write in math and science with no models about how it would look. I also suggest Visual Thinking Strategy.
@addyingelbert @heymrsbond @msschillax I think it takes a level of privilege to know the story of your name and it can also be off putting the first day of someone’s name in the system is a dead name. On the first day, one might know enough about students to know such things. Just my two cents on why I am careful.
.@lukecombs literally did a minute monologue on the backstory of his cover of "Fast Car" and he couldn't spare two seconds to say Tracy Chapman's name to a white crowd before he starts playing? Oh, ok.
I'm glad that Tracy Chapman is making a killing from royalties from @lukecombs's cover of her iconic song, "Fast Car". But if he's not giving her credit for the original at his concerts, that is some heavy misogynoirist erasure right there- period.
