@christoaivalis@wb_thorne@hecubian_devil By cheating all semester they skipped out on learning all the info and skills needed to do well on the final
That’s why this group’s exam was a “historic low”
It’s sad for the professor but more sad for the kids because they’re wasting their opportunity for a Brown education
@prettycritical All the people raging at her identify with the brother because they are also dumb loser young men who wish someone would just hand them a job with no effort
@del4rel@leehanloveb0t@prettycritical An application like this strongly conveys not giving a shit and they want to hire someone who gives a shit… if you can’t put in the effort to submit a decent application that obviously raises concerns about your work ethic
I’m glad this game is trending right now so I can share my taxonomy of city name components I made while playing. I got to 2000+ mostly by mixing and matching different combos I thought were likely to exist lol
@Vanessa_ABee But that doesn’t mean you can’t refer to it as reading in casual conversation. The end result of listening to an audiobook is that you’ve consumed that info, same as if you literally “read” it. It’s just different processes happening in your brain
@Vanessa_ABee I’d say istening to an audiobook counts as “having read” a book, but it’s not the literal act of reading. Reading involves a lot of active metacognitive processes like monitoring your comprehension, pausing, going back to reread, slowing down, etc. You can’t do that with audio
@PinstripeBungle@mcmansionhell they finally got a satanist death cult that targets children but right wingers can’t care about that anymore because they’re also extremely racist
insane 2020's sideplot of the 764/O9A distrubuted neo-nazi internet cult causing like a dozen mass shootings by children all over the globe and never really breaking into mainstream consciousness
@_baklon@james_f_thomas Nah that’s bullshit. A literate person should be able to see a made up nonsense word and accurately sound it out phonetically. It’s a completely independent skill from vocabulary
@kaschronicle@james_f_thomas I teach high schoolers and they really just can’t pronounce shit. When they see an unfamiliar word they’ll just guess based on the first couple letters instead of trying to sound it out
