♿ The Left has a serious ableism problem and it's not new - and calling itself liberatory does not inoculate it against eugenic logic. Eugenics historically sorted people through categories like fit/unfit, productive/dependent, competent/defective, normal/abnormal and valuable/burdensome. My argument isn't that ableist Leftists are secretly advocating forced sterilization. It's that the Left continues to reproduce several of the value judgments that made eugenics politically intelligible in the first place.

One thing people who are trying to oppose MAiD while not appearing to be "too controversial" by agreeing to Track 1. Many, if not most of the cases you share as examples of MAiD going too far would/could qualify under Track 1.

Is any Media news outlet going to report on the fact that disabled children that don't have access to virtual synchronous learning are only receiving 5 hours of instruction per week if they can't attend in person. Children like mine have been abandoned by everyone

This is exactly why the Ranulph Fiennes case matters far beyond one well-known person.

There are thousands of disabled, elderly and vulnerable people whose liberty can be restricted behind the language of “care” and “best interests”, often with very little public scrutiny.

I know from my own family how frightening it is when a vulnerable person’s wishes, relationships and freedom become secondary to professional decisions and procedure.

Care must never become isolation. Protection must never become control without proper safeguards.

If this case finally makes the public look more closely at what happens to people who have no platform, no influence and no famous name, then that scrutiny is long overdue.
