1 in 4 healthcare facilities (26%) lack basic water services. In least developed countries, it's 45%.
Without water for good hygiene, infections spread more easily, leading to antibiotic overuse.
Unless we act, #antibioticresistance will continue to worsen.

@UoDMHN @ypudundee That's really helpful Grant. As a previous Chaplaincy visitor for our local health board the issues raised arose from childhood. I don't know the answer to this - is there a pathway to follow young people into adulthood?
@JBLascarrou @JAMA_current nothing from ICU, no follow up. I requested a copy of all of my notes and daily ICU charts. Every year around that time I get them both out. I'm so glad COVID has raised awareness of the horror ICU can be.
@JBLascarrou @JAMA_current just found this. Sorry this post is so late. I had sepsis at 31 weeks pregnancy. I was ventilated for 6 weeks. This was 1998 and these kinds of problems weren't recognised. I has a wonderful diary from NICU with pictures of the baby, first bath etc. next
Thank you @RosenthalHealth for your interesting piece How to Avoid the Coronavirus? Wash Your Hands https://t.co/sTrqlT09Db YOU ARE VERY RIGHT! #HandHygiene is absolutely critical! See @WHO guidance here https://t.co/S1YT82m5Xb @AprilBaller@DidierPittet
@WHO@WHOAFRO@WHOEMRO@WHO_Europe@WHOSEARO@WHOWPRO@pahowho Dr Salama was a great supporter of infection prevention & control. Just a few days ago, we celebrated the launch of a new WHO IPC task force that was his idea. May he rest in peace. We passionately continue this work IN HIS MEMORY. @HananBalkhy@DrMikeRyan
The @WHO IPC team & @DidierPittet team at @Hopitaux_unige are pleased to announce the theme x the #HandHygiene campaign 2020: NURSES & MIDWIVES: CLEAN CARE IS IN YOUR HANDS! Join us supporting #Nurses2020 & #Midwives2020! https://t.co/9IF519UyYh @etkelley419
@EvonneTCurran Evonne, a massively important project, but as someone who has recently been a patient I unfortunately canโt see many positive answers to this. Really sorry but it is no use if we donโt face up to reality
Have just seen a packet of surface wipes in the supermarket "proven to kill antibiotic resistant MRSA" I'm wondering if that is public information going a bit far? #infectionprevention#AMR
