My annual rant of you don’t throw a 1.6 in game
ACC: 1.91 (.05 slower than ‘25)
Hardest throw: 1.72
68 throws where it was a clean glove 2 glove transaction (No delay or BID)
Added the chart so we can see the likelihood of u getting something middle/middle like a showcase is 🤏
CatcherCON 2025 🔥
I was honored to speak at #CatcherCON25 this past weekend! I thoroughly enjoyed all of the connections I made and convos I had.
HUGE thank you to @xanbarksdale for the invite and well done for putting on such a pro event for all attendees and speakers! 🙏
Accountability is not about calling someone out, playing "gotcha", or controlling someone else. Accountability is about reminding others of standards, goals, and values. Accountability requires trust, love, and respect.
You can’t simply quantify the amount of growth that come from a full room of coaches that actually share processes and don’t gate-keep. 🥎 could use a few pages out of the ⚾️ script… no I’m not talking about drills and what looks good on a presentation slide.
From CatcherCON yesterday.
Great presentation by Kellen Lee Mental Skills Coach for the Seattle Mariners. Some highlights:
1) CONFIDENCE- The belief that you have the ability to create the result you want.
2) Confidence is the anecdote of fear.
3) Simplicity breeds repeatability.
4) Clear mind & it’s easier access your skill set.
5) Skill doesn’t change second to second, mindset can.
Loving your players goes far beyond recognition on social media. It means being present—sitting across the table from them, listening, and showing up when they need it the most.
It’s about praying for them and valuing their worth beyond their ability.
I wish players realized how much their coaches think about them away from the field.. How we lose sleep if they’re struggling mentally, if their family is going through a loss, or if we’re just trying to watch film to figure out how we can help make them better.
We want connection just like they do, but sometimes can’t reach everyone all the time. We want to be better for them, but we are also human and deal with our own setbacks and struggles.
Mental health is widely talked about when it comes to student athletes, but do athletes realize that coaches, parents, and administrators also go through the similar things.
At the end of the day, we’re all just trying to do our best.
Talent is over-hyped.
- Are you on time?
- Do you work hard?
- Are you coachable?
- Can you be trusted?
- Do you accept your role?
- Do you help the team win?
- Do you make the right plays?
- Do you bring positive energy?
Talent, without the list above, is no fun for anyone.
