How did Aemond and Daemon die in the books?

Daemon waited 13 days at Harrenhal, challenging Aemond to stop burning the Riverlands and face him.

On the 14th day, Aemond arrived on Vhagar with his pregnant lover, Alys Rivers. He kissed her goodbye and mounted his dragon.
