Just shipped my first Chrome extension: SafeClip 🔐

Encrypted clipboard history that stays on your device. No account, no server, no tracking.

Free and open source. Feedback or a quick review would mean a lot!

Why PBKDF2 and not Argon2id in SafeClip?

Argon2id means pulling in a WASM dependency. SafeClip has zero dependencies, and that is the real defense against a compromised library reading your key. 300,000 iterations felt right for a local-only tool.

What do you copy most that you would rather not leave in plain text?

A) tokens and API keys
B) passwords
C) addresses and IBANs
D) something else (tell me)

[kernelandshell @kernelandshell]

Quick one: how many Chrome extensions do you have installed right now, and how many did you actually open this month?

Count them. It is usually a bad surprise.

[kernelandshell @kernelandshell]

Your clipboard is a junk drawer with a very good memory. Passwords, API keys, IBANs, that address you typed once. Most clipboard managers keep all of it in plain text.

Ever checked where yours stores it?

[kernelandshell @kernelandshell]

No account. No server. No sync. No analytics. SafeClip is a clipboard history that stays on your device, encrypted with AES-256.

@ToheebKA Claude everyday personally.

@ChrisUniverse @ChatGPT Agents doing exactly what you asked, not what you meant, is the whole risk right now. Sorry about the deal.

[kernelandshell @kernelandshell]

@TeamConcode Ten seconds was enough. The depth and love in all the art sold it.

[kernelandshell @kernelandshell]

Built a Chrome extension that remembers what you copy, encrypts it, and keeps it on your device only. Star what you want to keep, file it into folders.

Your clipboard sees everything. Passwords, tokens, addresses, that message you almost sent. Think about who else can read it. #Privacy #InfoSec

@BenHomebrew God I should really pick this game back up again

[kernelandshell @kernelandshell]

@inresin Omfg i love the vibes

@Sif_32 Double jump would make it easier, but Silksong clearly isn't interested in making things easy. Satisfying once it clicks though."

@dannygaray60 Metroidvania bosses where the sub-weapons are the intended answer are the best ones.

@ShazXcode And the sequel: 'It worked in staging.'

@sashikantsingh_ Context matters a lot here. What was the prompt before that? Models will say wild things if the setup pushes them there.

[kernelandshell @kernelandshell]

@mattwhitedev Coming around on it is the right call. Rewarding people for good timing beats protecting them from themselves.

[kernelandshell @kernelandshell]

Reading the source code of tools you use daily is weirdly relaxing once you stop expecting to understand all of it. #OpenSource
