So pleased that this paper with co-authors @AoifeLeonard1@Stevenson_Lab and @Lancaster_LT is out in @InsectMolecBio! A role of epigenetic mechanisms in regulating female reproductive responses to temperature in a pest beetle. https://t.co/qcP0RP2i4K
I'm grateful and excited to be presenting the student plenary at #BESMacro2024. Looking forward to a great conference with lots of interesting talks and workshops. Hope to see some of you there!
Congratulations to our student plenary speaker Kerry Stewart, who will be presenting at #BESMacro2024 on "The weird, the wacky, and the wonderful: why conserving functionally unique birds is critical for biodiversity"

It is well-know that there are more species in the tropics, but Does the composition (types of species) vary across latitudes too?
To answer this question we explore latitudinal patterns in forest specialisation

New publication just dropped! 📝 So pleased to announce my briefing for @UKParliament on the #FutureOfHorticulture#POSTnote707🍅🥕🍎🥬🍐 Feeling very proud to have achieved such a fruitful (😉) @UKRI_News policy internship at @POST_UK 🎉 Read it here: https://t.co/P53IN5CWCl
@PeteEcology@MGS_tweets@ja_tobias @DrChrisClements @C_PCarmona Another similarity in our conclusions is the relative insensitivity of Rao undersampling/missing data. They didn't look at trait probability densities which we also found to be relatively insensitive to missing data.
This means we likely have enough data to estimate large-scale functional diversity for multiple taxonomic groups, but data collection should continue.
We have produced a guide for reducing error when estimating functional diversity from incomplete trait datasets.
The Committee is extremely concerned by the consistently poor progress made in increasing UK tree planting rates. The Govt’s target to plant 30000 trees a year are figures not seen since planting peaked in the 70s & 80s

We estimate UK GHG emissions from food fell by 32% (-1.5 t CO2eq) per person between 1986 and 2017.
Dietary shifts alone to align with @TheLancet Planetary Health Diet would reduce emissions by a further 42% (-1.3 t CO2eq)

🍖Did you see the headlines about UK #meat consumption dropping 17% in a decade (2008-2018)?
📉 It could be as little as 3% or 5% new research in @WellcomeOpenRes suggests, by @kerrysmith189, @PaulineScheelb1, Andrew Balmford & me.
