Hi all,

We are starting to document how General Category communities have been portrayed or demonized across media & public discourse, including digital & print platforms, literature, movies, govt reports, songs, & social media.

Please share examples or links under the categories below.

1. Movies/webseries
-Real-life heroes who were GC but were shown as belonging to other castes
-Real-life villains who were from reserved categories but were shown as GC
-Cases of unnecessary villainization of GC castes

2. Literature
-Books that demonize GCs, objectify GC women, or frame them as fair game for “avenging 5000 yrs of oppression”
-Articles or studies that assign caste to irrelevant subjects or unnecessarily demonize GC communities

3. Govt reports
-Reports that omit a GC column or otherwise exclude GCs from the data

4. Songs
-Lyrics that demonize GC castes or objectify GC women

5. Social media
-Posts or trends that demonize GC castes or objectify GC women
-Other relevant examples are also welcome.

कोर्ट में योगी सरकार ने undertaking दी कि 2026 में 50% आरक्षण ही देंगे!

लेकिन 2026 में अपनी ही undertaking झुठला कर, 91% आरक्षण फिर से दे दिया!

अब कोर्ट ने फिर रोक दिया तो 91% आरक्षण जस्टिफाई करने सुप्रीम कोर्ट भी जा रहे हैं!

In the last few months : 3 students including Sahil have committed suicide at IIT.

When an IIT Bombay professor upholding exam integrity catches a student using ChatGPT or cheating 𝗛𝗘 should not be targeted with an FIR and a criminal probe!

Every student's life is deeply precious & one feels so bad the young student committed suicide & lost his life. IIT BOMBAY must ensure counseling. Our education system & institutions must prioritize mental & emotional health support for all children.

Prior to this case very unfortunate suicide, two other students at IIT BOMBAY also committed suicide & hence IIT BOMBAY needs to introspect within & urgently reform.

However framing honest teachers for enforcing rules sets a dangerous precedent as it kills meritocracy and fuels brain drain.

#𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗕𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁 stands 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗠𝗟𝗬 with 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮 and the IIT Bombay Faculty Forum.

The BJP spokesperson is blaming "me" for my language? Prior to Sahil's unfortunate suicide 2 other students committed suicide in IIT BOMBAY, did the government do anything? Who cares : as the students were GC.

I gave @neha_laldas 's data: more GC students committed suicide!!

Has the government even acted against the MCD commissioner Sanjeev Khirwar whose dog has more value than us ?

The previous 2 students who commented suicides at the IIT were GC students. No one outraged!
