We appreciate Spain for its solidarity with Gaza and its people. However, winning a football match is not the same as confronting the perpetrators of these crimes or putting an end to the suffering in Gaza—something that neither Spain nor the Arab and Muslim governments have done.

At the end of the day, it was only a football match. Moreover, professional football often includes practices that many Muslims consider contrary to Islamic teachings, including the public display of immodestly dressed women.

Also, tying his football victories to the victory of Islam is superficial. He may lose tomorrow. By that same logic, a mushrik could say, 'Look, I invoked Jesus or Emom Ali and I won!' That proves nothing. Likewise, praying to God alone and then losing a match does not, by itself, prove or disprove anything.

The point is that Abrahamic monotheism, preserved today only in Islam, teaches that none deserves worship, that is, prayer, except Allah, whether one wins or loses. The Muslim who worships God alone and loses is still upon the truth, while the victorious mushrik who invoked his favourite saint or anyone else besides God is still upon falsehood.

Truth is not determined by who wins a football match.

Tawhid remains true whether the believer wins or loses.
