Indian Overseas Bank Employees protested on 23.01.26 against Severe Staff Shortage and Toxic Work Culture in Bank. Employees of Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) have announced a two-day nationwide strike on February 2 and 3, 2026.

The union pointed out that for the year 2026, Indian Overseas Bank has planned to recruit only 250 Customer Service Associates, which is the lowest recruitment figure in the banking sector. This is despite the fact that more than 210 employees are retiring during the current financial year.

UFBU has been pressing since 2015; IBA has already recommended it to the Government (MoU 07-12-2023), and the 12th Bipartite/9th Joint Note (08-03-2024) records the Saturday holiday clause, pending approvals/clearances.
Honour what’s on record. Approve all Saturdays off.
