The Th Muvah-led NSCN (IM) hijacked the politics of Nagaland to Manipur with the objectives of satiating the despicable hatred that the Tangkhul Nagas of Ukhrul District has against the Kuki people. The NSCN (IM) also exploited the Zaliangrong people of Tamenglong district to turn against the Kukis. Most of the tribes within the Kuki Chin Mizo fold were known by the generic name of Kuki which was a nomenclature for all and the tribe wise recognition/designation came about only in 1956 – 57, when the Government of India came out with a list of Scheduled Tribes which accorded recognition of group identity.
The Kukis have never resorted to any kind of aggression on the neighbouring tribes and that the often conflicts between the Kacha Nagas and Kukis are usually caused by the Tangkhul to this day.

The deceased, identified as Julie, was three months pregnant and had aspired to secure a better future for her children and family amidst the challenges of this competitive world.

It is deeply unfortunate that she and her unborn child lost their lives, at the hands of the Tangkhul NSCN-IM. It is profoundly distressing and incomprehensible that the Tangkhul NSCN-IM and its allied faction, ZUF-Kamson, would target vulnerable pregnant women.

JUSTICE FOR THE THREE KUKI PASTORS — WHY NO ACCOUNTABILITY?

The killing of three Kuki pastors in an alleged ambush has raised serious questions among the Kuki-Zo community. Their deaths cannot simply be forgotten or treated as another statistic in the continuing violence in Manipur.

The allegations concerning the involvement of NSCN-IM, ZUF (Kamson), and armed groups reportedly operating from Myanmar must be thoroughly investigated. If evidence establishes the involvement of any individual or organisation, those responsible must face the full force of the law.

The NIA, CBI and Supreme Court of India must ensure that this case receives transparent, impartial and time-bound attention.

The questions remain:

Who planned the ambush?
Who carried it out?
Who supplied the weapons?
Who provided information about the movement of the victims?
Were there accomplices or a wider conspiracy?
Why has accountability not yet been publicly established?

The demand is not for justice against any particular group without evidence. The demand is for a complete investigation, identification of the perpetrators, lawful arrests where evidence supports them, prosecution and justice for the victims and their families.

Three pastors lost their lives. Their families deserve answers, and the people deserve accountability.

Follow the evidence.
Investigate every allegation.
Protect civilians.
Bring the perpetrators to justice.

The leaking of a patient's medical records, ward details, and personal information is a gross violation of medical ethics and patient privacy. Hospitals are meant to protect lives, not expose patients to harassment and intimidation.

Equally irresponsible is the reckless labeling of injured civilians as "militants" without any official determination. Such baseless accusations only fuel hatred and put vulnerable patients at greater risk.

IMPHAL, June 16, 2026 — The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, reportedly suspended further treatment for three injured Kuki civilians, following a reported mob threat.

The three patients were admitted with injuries sustained in an incident allegedly attributed to an attack by NSCN-IM based in Konsakhul Area. Minutes after RIMS issued a statement on medical ethics and its duty to treat all patients “irrespective of background,” the Director and staff “unanimously agreed not to continue further treatment” for the three Kuki civilians pending their transfer from RIMS.

The decision reportedly followed a message circulated to “Meiteis and Manipur Nagas in Imphal” urging them to “mobilize en masse at RIMS Hospital to kill all the Kuki patients.” It further claims that “thousands of Meitei and Manipur Naga mobs stormed the premises of RIMS Hospital in an attempt to lynch the three Kuki civilians.”

RIMS is a National Institute under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, with the Union Health Minister as the President of the Board of Governors and the Manipur Chief Minister as Vice President. The motto of RIMS is “In the Service of Humanity,” and it states that the institution “is not the exclusive property of any one community.”

There are appeals to the Government of India to “immediately establish a similar premier medical facility equivalent to RIMS or AIIMS in every Kuki-dominated district” if the safety of Kuki patients cannot be guaranteed at RIMS Imphal.

“Every citizen must be able to access healthcare without the fear of mob lynching.”
