Thread alert! My principles for hiring in tech.
1. Hire for learning ability, not mere knowledge. Tech changes rapidly and knowledge goes out of date
2. Experience is valuable to an extent, but not every role requires a Senior Developer
@prstb Also I reached out to someone at Swiggy and apparently this is old and not accurate. As of December 2025 I'm told that it only requests for some 10-12 apps.
Would be interesting to do this analysis regularly.
@prstb I just came across this. I'm an Android developer myself since 2011, ashamed to admit that I've been so naive as to trust the Play Store's enforcement of the QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission.
I'm curious how you performed the analysis. Did you download the APKs directly from Play?
Meanwhile I upgraded my entire mainboard of my Framework laptop (went from Intel based one to AMD Ryzen one). Yes Framework offers this.
And what did I do with my old mainboard? Framework offers a case for $40. I can use my old mainboard as a CPU for that cost.
I am heartbroken to share the news that I’ll be leaving JetBrains next week for personal reasons. Working on Kotlin was the best job I’ve had. The greatest asset that Kotlin has is you, the Kotlin community. Interacting with you was the highlight of my life all those years. /1
Just received the Android13 update for my #Fairphone3Plus
This is an amazing approach by @Fairphone to make updates sustainable. They provided Android11, then continuous security updates every 3 months. Then they skipped Android12 and went straight to 13.
Skipping unnecessary annual major version updates is what makes the update strategy sustainable.
Honestly I was not even expecting this phone to be updated beyond Android 11. Great job @Fairphone
@thebetterindia@dhimant have you considered offering an API or RSS feed for the TBI content? The Android app is mostly unusable for me and it would open the door for third party apps. At the very least I would like to create a TBI app for personal use 😃
376 investors have already invested €726K in @somnoxsleep so far. Have you invested yet?
There's only 4 days to go. You still have an opportunity to invest in a product that is life changing for people with sleep problems. Here's the link to invest:

@MDMGeek Let's set aside regulators for a moment. There have also been calls from within the tech community to pause AI advancements for 6 months (I'll look for a link to the source). Achieving this "balance" will not happen voluntarily. Too much capitalism involved. What's the solution?
Remember: A 5 seater car is still only a 4 seater if you have kids. Very few cars are wide enough to accommodate an adult in the rear middle seat when there are 2 child seats installed.
As a…
– user
I want…
– an endless vertical-scrolling format added to every app because one company also has it
so that…
– I help to increase engagement metrics
Please please please don't take this advice. My circles are filled with excellent engineers at all levels who have this kind of GitHub graph. Heck many don't even have an account on source code hosting services outside their work.
Don't believe this person.
Please don't make blanket statements like this if you have no clue that GitHub has a setting for turning private contributions off. Or if you have no clue that many companies require you to create a separate GitHub account using their work email.
