Might sound like a stretch, but for all its flaws, religion exists because of people like this.
They have no intrinsic desire to hold themselves to consistent standards of integrity. In fact, it is a shackle they’re eager to shed. They can only be herded with carrots & sticks.
the real reason you’re tired all the time: it’s not your workload. it’s your open loops. the text you haven’t answered. the apology you owe. the decision you’re avoiding. the conversation you keep postponing. these run in the background of your mind all day, draining your battery. close your loops. watch your energy return. mental clutter is more exhausting than physical work ever will be.
Start reading and writing every day. Doesn’t matter what you write about just write, even if it’s about the 10-20 pages of the book you read. These screens are making our cognition decline in horrific ways.
it is an unwritten rule of life that after every prolonged period of hardship and uncertainty, there is going to be a period when you are going to achieve quantum leaps across multiple areas of your life. the only requirement is that you do not give up on yourself.

Sometimes I hear my friends enthusiastically talk about work and picking up extra shifts, and I wonder whether I am just broken.
