Teaching at this time of year is absolutely nuts. I canβt concentrate on anything for longer than 5 minutes because all the adrenaline that Iβve run on all year has finally run out and Iβm an empty husk.
I'm currently putting together an anthology consisting of extracts from fantasy texts aimed at challenging our more able students and was wondering whether people had suggestions of texts I should include? @EngChatUK@LauraLolder @FunkyPedagogy @SPryke2

I don't do much on here but my darling dog Ludo is seriously ill and insurance is not going to cover his treatment. He has been a lifesaving (literally) companion to my autistic son, we cannot lose him. Please retweet

@mshmalik_1 @msybibi@EngChatUK @FunkyPedagogy @SPryke2@Xris32 @AnishaMiah_ We taught this to Year 7 for the first time this year. They really enjoyed the text but we weren't able to finish it.
My school are making the change from teaching Of Mice and Men to Year 9 next academic year and I have been tasked with trying to find a suitable alternative that explores similar themes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated @EngChatUK @FunkyPedagogy @SPryke2@Xris32
@DiLeed@EngChatUK @FunkyPedagogy @SPryke2@Xris32 Builds on themes and ideas already explored in Year 7 and 8 (we look at The Other Side of Truth, Noughts and Crosses and Refugee Boy) and prepares students for literature that will be studied at KS5 (The Great Gatsby, Death of a Salesman, Othello).
@helanvictoria We're teaching Blood Brothers as of next year during the summer term for this reason. The replacement novel for OMAM will be taught during Autumn Term 2.
