@HuffPostCanada Jazz is not topping up salaries. Family member is FA for Jazz & she was told by company that they are going to take advantage of CEWS, but won’t be kicking in the 25%. She’s better off on the CERB.
@LeBlancJpl@dilpreetthiara Sorry, I should specify - you will need to report it as income on your 2020 taxes, not for the 2019 tax year which has been extended.
@LeBlancJpl@dilpreetthiara It's not tax free. You will be required to report it as income at the end of tax season. They're just not deducting tax at the source.
@ChaseRuttig Like I said, they can certainly opt to stay home and try to claim it, but the onus will be on them at the end of the year to prove that they were not employed. If the employer says they left voluntarily, then good chance they'll have to repay.
@ChaseRuttig Not true. You need to have lost your job due to COVID (laid off, diagnosed with C-19, forced to be home to take care of kids or someone sick with C-19. You can't quit and claim CERB. Well, you can, but you will be caught and forced to pay the money back.
@ilfor Yes! Been asking the same of my local MP. Have 2 kids finishing 1st/3rd yr uni. Both had applied to promising summer jobs in their fields of study. Outlook now is bleak. Many uni kids rely on summer wages for tuition, rent, food.
@AlexUsherHESA @EmmMacfarlane "The Benefit is only available to indvls who stopped work as a result of reasons related to COVID-19...
if you are a student who had a job last year and were planning on working this summer you do not qualify for the benefit." But, maybe app will tell more.
@AlexUsherHESA @EmmMacfarlane So, no. They don't qualify if they worked last summer and were planning to work this summer. They had to have lost their job due to COV19. Huge oversight/neglect of a population that relies on summer jobs for tuition, rent, food. Most are also of voting age.
@RosieBarton Can someone please ask if CERB will apply to post-secondary students who did not earn 5k in past 12 months and cannot find summer work due to current economic situation?
@feather No such thing as ambivert. There are introverts and extroverts. Introverts can be very social. The difference is that introverts need alone time to recharge from socializing whereas extroverts are energized by socializing.
@interacting@uxplanet Not sure if I am personally deserving...But, the people that use my agency's web services are definitely deserving of the very best experience that I can provide. An IDF membership would certainly assist towards that goal. #learnwithIDF
@PeterMacKay Disappointing. Voted Lib last election and was considering voting Cons this time around, depending on policy positions, esp those re:climate pollution. Want to leave a better world for my children/grandchildren and am willing to pay more to curb carbon emissions to do so.
