I was honored to attend the 15th International Students Graduation Ceremony organized by YTB, an institution that has given hope and opportunities to thousands of Somali students, including myself, through its scholarship programs over the years.
Receiving the Türkiye Alumni Award, which is presented to a limited number of graduates each year, was a truly special moment for me. I am grateful that my efforts to strengthen the relationship between Somalia and Türkiye have been recognized in such a meaningful way.
When I first arrived in Türkiye in 2009, I could not have imagined the journey ahead. What I knew then, and what I still believe today, is that building a stronger Somalia and a stronger Somali–Turkish partnership requires dedication, patience, and continuous effort. This award is a reminder of that journey and of the many people who have contributed to it along the way.
My sincere thanks to the Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye, Mr. Cevdet Yılmaz, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mr. Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and YTB President Abdulhadi Turus for their presence and for making this memorable event possible.
I remain proud to be part of the Türkiye Alumni family and look forward to continuing to contribute to the strong and growing friendship between Somalia and Türkiye. 🇸🇴🇹🇷

Omar Abdikadir Artan, an international football referee from Somalia, has etched his name in history by being selected as an official for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He is the first referee from Somalia to achieve this remarkable milestone.
Today, I officially assumed the role of DG of the Ministry of Health @MoH_Somalia. I’m honored to serve and committed to strengthening our health systems and improving the wellbeing of our people.

China expresses grave concern over Israel’s recognition of #Somaliland and is firmly against it.
China notes the statement issued immediately by the government of the Federal Republic of Somalia firmly rejecting the move. Regional organizations and countries, including the African Union, the Arab League, the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Intergovernmental Authority on Development, have also deplored and strongly condemned the move.
According to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and international law, Somaliland is an inalienable part of Somalia’s territory.
China firmly supports Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and opposes any move to split its territory. The issue of Somaliland is entirely Somalia’s internal affair. It should be resolved by the Somali people in a way suited to their national conditions and in line with the constitution. Countries outside the region should stop unwarranted interference.
No country should seek selfish interests by aiding and abetting separatism in other countries. We urge the Somaliland authorities to stop at once their separatist activities and collusion with external forces.
The illegal aggression of PM Netanyahu in recognising a part of Somalia’s Northern region is against international law. Meddling with Somalia’s internal affairs is contrary to established legal & diplomatic rules. Somalia & its people are one: inseparable by division from a far.
His Excellency @Presidencysl_, there is no way you can accept recognition from a child-killer state. I’m not saying this as a Somali but as a human who cares about and advocates for children’s rights.

His Excellency President @HassanSMohamud officially opened today the 6th Session of the Federal Parliament of Somalia. The President delivered an address before the joint session of both Chambers of Parliament at Villa Hargeisa.
In his keynote address, the President outlined the significant strides made in advancing national priorities, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to eradicate terrorism, stabilize recently liberated regions, and foster growth in critical sectors such as energy and the blue economy. He also underscored the government’s commitment to attracting foreign direct investment and enhancing domestic revenue mobilization. These initiatives, he stated, “will generate employment opportunities for thousands of Somalis, improve public service delivery, and substantially boost national revenue.”
The President commended the Federal Parliament for its dedicated efforts in reviewing and deliberating on the Constitution, urging lawmakers to expedite the completion of the remaining chapters.
Furthermore, he reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to upholding the democratic aspirations of the Somali people, particularly in transitioning to direct elections. He emphasized, “Our people have placed their trust in us to break free from the prolonged cycle of indirect elections. It is our solemn duty to ensure that they are granted the fundamental right to freely elect their representatives.”
