Omar Artan didn’t just make the #FIFAWorldCup, he made history as the first Somali referee to get there, and as #Africa’s best. That milestone stands no matter what. So sorry to see this, Omar. You reached the summit of your profession and inspired a generation back home just by getting there, and being kept off the pitch you earned doesn’t change that. This won’t be the end of your story on the world stage. The world stands with you as one family, wishing you resilience now and many more major finals to come. Solidarity. #Somalia

It’s shocking that a country with 41,042 gun related deaths and 501 mass shootings in 2024 (highest in the world for both categories) will take presidency of UN Security Council in March.
That coveted position must be based on security of the country.
FM @AbdisalamDhaay reaffirmed that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of #Somalia are inviolable, in accordance with the Constitution, the United Nations Charter, and the Constitutive Act of the African Union.

The illegal aggression of PM Netanyahu in recognising a part of Somalia’s Northern region is against international law. Meddling with Somalia’s internal affairs is contrary to established legal & diplomatic rules. Somalia & its people are one: inseparable by division from a far.
I firmly reject PM Netanyahu’s declaration recognizing Somaliland. This violates international law and threatens Somalia’s sovereignty and unity. We stand united with the Somali nation to defend our territorial integrity. 🇸🇴 #Somalia

@fausto_andreia@SoDMA_Somalia@WFPSomalia@IGAD_CPAC Anticipatory Action is not about meetings in Mogadishu.
As Somalia faces a severe humanitarian crisis, resources must go to early action and delivery on the ground, not workshops.
It’s time for action, not meetings.
Anticipatory Action in the eyes of @SoDMA_Somalia becomes meeting held in Mogadishu.
It’s time @SoDMA_Somalia and #UN partners understand this is not time for meetings and waste resources in Mogadishu.
Somalia is currently facing a humanitarian crisis, prompting UN agencies and international partners to be more cautious about how and where resources are allocated.
It’s action and delivery time.
