My 78 year old mother is a @chime client-she has talked them up for years. Last month her debit card got hacked (while in the hospital) by a gamer-$134 over 24 hours. She disputed charges & was denied & told to contact Google directly. The outcome is shameful & unacceptable! #bs
@Nick_Lamparelli@BrokerSteve412 Rule verbiage: landlords will be prohibited from evicting most tenants affected by the fires for the next six months, with exceptions for high-income renters. Those who receive protection under the ordinance must repay any owed rent by July 31, 2026, or risk eviction.
@mrjayw@anothercohen The ratio of value between land and structure is an important variable. In Southern California, for example, the land itself can be 80%+ of the total value. This impacts the decision about take up of earthquake insurance for many residential owners and differs from Florida.
@Nick_Lamparelli Without transparency, insurers cede their ability to create incentives for safer and less risky behavior. Increased transparency has the potential to be mutually beneficial and pro-social.
Let’s try this new word on for size: mypothesis—it’s when someone stretches a modicum of science into quasi evidence for their fatuous theory.
#mypothesis.
Con law hypothetical: if a President believes he or she was elected twice, how would they interpret the 22nd Amendment in a manner that would allow a third election?
@bodinebaron@RANDCorporation Legend has it that when Don Rice captained the RAND team everyone wore jerseys with either a zero or a one on their backs.
@emily_sawicki@SMC_edu@SMC_edu deserves a lot of credit for both identifying and prioritizing food insecurity as well as (and more importantly) innovating and fundraising to address it.
Questions on my mind: 1. Is sacrifice of any magnitude now politically untenable? 2. Are we willing to bear (any, some, all) costs associated with reducing our reliance on fossil fuel and in turn, authoritarian regimes? 3. Who will (re)inspire Americans to think beyond ourselves?
@coachBSanders18@ArizonaFBall@TwoStarScoob Scoobie may have had the best sophomore season ever in the Pac12 for a defensive player—he’s still in Mariota’s nightmares and a legit Wildcat legend.
