Almost all good initiatives are being so killed by the bureaucracy and regulators. Look at what has happened to mdr on UPI. Just to target only 4% of transactions, they have vitiated the entire ecosystem. And perpetuated the cash economy as well, which they like to patronise for obvious reasons. With this mindset, we will never be VIKSIT. Not in 2047 nor in any other year. @narendramodi@nsitharaman
If so, why levy MDR at all? The government is running a huge subsidy bill running into lakhs of crores. Can it not pick up this tab of a few thousand crores? Will it go broke? Target incumbent subsidies to the deserving and save huge money there, bear this so called MDR costs. It is peanuts. Levying of MDR runs the risk of encouraging cash transactions. Not a judicious choice. @narendramodi
@narendramodi@nsitharaman this is as bad as it can get. You guys haven’t got the gumption to take on the ills of shadow economy. Alas!! Source:%20Reuters https://t.co/BppS1nbQTm
@narendramodi@nsitharaman this is the most retrograde step being taken by YOUR government. Instead of reducing cash transactions, this step will encourage them. Does it not cost the government to print currency notes and mint coins? Does not the government give huge leaky subsidies for sustenance of poverty? Why can’t the government bear the transaction costs in this case?
Government may allow fees on UPI payment above Rs 2,000 https://t.co/BF8Z81o2l7
@CAronitpereira "If all 2,906 tonnes of gold imported over the last four years were held today, their current market value would be approximately $382 billion (₹36.6 lakh crore)"
where did this duffer get his figures from?
Thank you professor for your reply. My point is that Rs 500 denominations are largely used in bundles for carrying out cash and illicit transactions. We can immediately bring a halt to such transactions by restricting the largest denomination at Rs 50, as these will be very cumbersome to carry.
@narendramodi sir. The coterie around you and the corrupt bureaucracy will discourage you in many more things. Please stay true to your pre PMship stand of government having no business in business. Get out of all sectors apart from Defence, Foreign relations and maintaining law and preset and quick contract enforcement and justice. Leave all else to the private sector.
@narendramodi sir. Please make amends before it is too late. I can tell from personal experience, that it feels futile to make more efforts to earn more money, when a substatial chunk of what you earn extra goes away in giving freebies and towards corruption. It hurts. Genuinely. And more so, when you see people around you, earning much more than you, dealing in cash, evading taxes and living a rich life. They know they will be able to game the system because the system allows them to, aided in large measure, corruption in governance.
A college economics professor stated that he had once failed an entire class. That class insisted that socialism is functional and that no one should be poor and no one rich, that everyone is equal...
The teacher told them, "OK, we will do an experiment on socialism in this group.
All grades will be averaged, and everyone will get the same grade, so no one will fail and no one will get a 10."
After the first test, the grades were added up and divided by the number of students, and everyone got an 8.
The students who studied intensively were upset, but those who studied less were overjoyed.
As the second test approached, the students who had studied a little learned even less, and those who had studied more intensively told themselves that they also wanted a "handout", so they also studied less.
The average of the second test was 6.
When the third test was given, the average score was 4. To the great surprise of all the students, they all failed.
The teacher told them that socialism will eventually fail because when half the population sees that they cannot work, because the other half will take care of them, and when the half that worked realizes that there is no point in working anymore, because others are the beneficiaries of their labor, then that is the end of any nation
The story may be a fable not a fact but the moral is real
Get it?
@narendramodi sir, I submit humbly that a nation which cannot make decent motor-able roads in and around it’s frontier city cannot dream of वीक्षितता . The crumbling of roads in and around Mumbai reeks of huge corruption and ineptitude. @mybmc@Dev_Fadnavis
