The 42 feet tall Karkala Gomateshwara, also known as the Shri Gommateshwara Statue, is located on a rocky hillock called Gommata Betta in Karkala.

Due to the region’s high rainfall, the 15th century CE monolith colossi has been subjected to significant environmental exposure over time. This had resulted in the accumulation of dust, dirt and thick moss growth on the surface, along with noticeable deterioration of the stone in certain areas. (1/2)
