This is one of the more concerning consumer-exposure studies I’ve seen in a while.
98% of personal care and household products contained at least one chemical that was not disclosed on the label, including several endocrine-disrupting chemicals such as bisphenols, phthalates, and parabens.
85% contained at least one chemical with a known or suspected health hazard, more than half failed testing because of undisclosed contaminants, and 26% contained chemicals that directly contradicted claims on the label. On average, the products contained more than 3x as many chemicals as their labels disclosed.
And this included products marketed as “natural,” “non-toxic,” and “fragrance-free.”
I’ve talked for years about reducing unnecessary exposure to endocrine disruptors. But you can’t avoid a chemical if you don’t know it’s there!
Ingredient labels alone may simply not be enough at this point. We need much better testing and transparency of the products people are putting on their bodies and using in their homes every single day.

I watched a video done by a cancer researcher on why one shouldn’t spray their perfumes on the neck and it was worth it. The neck is one of the highest blood flow on the body. Its skin is very thin which means fragrances and chemicals get absorbed faster and deeper. She explains most of the perfumes and cosmetic products have endocrine disruptors which mimic or block our hormones. Most studies link them to infertility, respiratory problems and cancer.
Teenage pregnancy in Kenya remains at 15%. Behind that number are girls facing stigma, school dropout and futures narrowed too early. I’m #OnHerSide because girls need guidance, compassion, and choices before a crisis begins. #WorldPopulationDay
In Kenya, ~16 women die every day from pregnancy-related causes. That is ~6,000 mothers every year. How is this still happening when most maternal deaths are preventable? I’m #OnHerSide because safe pregnancy & childbirth should never depend on luck. Are you? #WorldPopulationDay
