Rangareddy Joint Collector and Senior Assistant Caught in ACB Bribery Operation

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended M.V. Bhoopal Reddy, the Joint Collector of Rangareddy District, and Y. Madan Mohan Reddy, Senior Assistant in the E Section of the Rangareddy District Collectorate, in a high-profile bribery case today.

The operation unfolded when Madan Mohan Reddy was caught red-handed at Gurramguda Cross Road near Sanjeevani Vanam, accepting a bribe of Rs. 8 lakhs from Jakkidi Muthyam Reddy, a resident of Gurramguda Village. The bribe was allegedly demanded to influence higher officials and remove 14 guntas of land from the prohibited list on the Dharani portal, Telangana’s land records management system.

ACB officials recovered the bribe amount from Madan Mohan Reddy’s Maruti Swift Desire car, with his hands testing positive in a phenolphthalein test. Upon questioning, Madan Mohan Reddy claimed that he was acting on behalf of Joint Collector M.V. Bhoopal Reddy and even made a phone call to confirm this.

Later that evening, at 10:41 PM, Joint Collector M.V. Bhoopal Reddy arrived at Peddamberpet ORR in his official vehicle. Madan Mohan Reddy then handed over the bribe amount to him in a plastic bag inside the Innova car. The ACB recovered the money, which also tested positive for phenolphthalein.

Both officials have been accused of abusing their official positions for personal gain. They are set to be arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases Court in Hyderabad. The investigation is ongoing.
