A primer on unethical reporting and the priorities of certain media:

Every publication prides itself on thorough, accurate and ethical reporting. A lot of work — and a system of checks and balances— is supposed to be put into place to hopefully ensure that a publisher will NEVER have to issue a correction. If someone takes issue with an article but the publisher has an out because there was some ambiguity, a publisher will take that “out” and do anything to avoid having to publish a correction.

Issuing a correction is a black eye to the reporter, certainly. It signals to future editors that she cannot be trusted. But it is also embarrassing to the editors and the publisher, who are forced to admit that they failed at their jobs as well.

So now we come to @GretchenVoss64’s agenda-driven hit piece in @BostonMagazine. People ask why someone would not grant an interview to a reporter like her. You don’t grant someone like that an interview because you would be giving an untrustworthy person control over your words. She’s not seeking the truth, she’s advancing her own narrative, irrespective of (and often contrary to) the truth. And given her lack of ethics, she will take a quote from you and publish it out of context to make it appear as though you said something that you didn’t. To try to make you look bad to advance her agenda.

As an aside, those dangers are exactly why any criminal defense attorney will advise a client never to speak to the police.

I chose not to speak with @GretchenVoss6 because I knew her to be untrustworthy. And sure enough, she was so blinded by her own bias that she took an old quote of mine out of context and made it appear as though I said something that I didn’t. In the process, of course, she unwittingly proved what her intentions would have been had I agreed to speak with her in the first place. And by doing so, she put her magazine in legal jeopardy. Shame on her.

You can bet that when @BostonMagazine received my demand for a correction, they panicked. They consulted with their legal department, who advised them that there was no “out.” They recognized that it was one of the strongest defamation claims that could exist, because @GretchenVoss64 acted with actual malice and there was zero defense to what she did. They were loathe to do it but they had no choice. They issued the correction and hoped that would put the issue to bed.

I’m told, however, that the print edition still exists. I haven’t decided yet whether to take any further action regarding that clear defamation. In addition, there are many other inaccuracies in her “article” (although I will likely leave it to others to demand those corrections). For now, it is just satisfying — once again — to have exposed corruption.

Someone please explain to Gretchen Voss that Michael Proctor's second phone extraction has nothing to do with Federal investigators. 😵‍💫

Instead, it was local attorneys (like Rosemary Scappichio) who fought tirelessly to get Proctor's phone extracted for a second time - this one including the cloud which retrieved over 13 years of data.

It was only from there when Proctor's attorneys dropped him, the police union dropped him, and he dropped his appeal to get his job back. Then, through motion practice, the Canton Police Department and the POST Commission were also able to obtain a copy.

Further, it was not until earlier this year when Judge Doolin allowed Karen Read to use the extraction for her lawsuit against the Massachusetts State Police and the town of Canton.

It was only then when we (the public) finally got to see what Proctor, Sgt Sean Goode, other public servants and several Canton husbands - with direct connections to certain witnesses - actually felt about individuals who don't look like them.

The racism, antisemitism, misogyny and anti-lgbtq rhetoric would have never been seen if it weren't for the efforts of attorneys fighting for their clients. And, it would have never been headlines if it weren't for Karen Read filing her lawsuit against MSP and CPD.

Gretchen Voss’s latest piece is a total abortion of professional standards that drags Boston Magazine straight into the gutter. She can spin all she wants about a "coordinated campaign" targeting witnesses, but online outrage didn't fake the collision science, fabricate deleted call logs, manufacture shady butt-dials, or type "how long to die in cold" into a browser at 2:27 AM. Karen Read was found not guilty. Period. The scientific evidence obliterated the prosecution's garbage narrative, and no amount of frivolous revisionism can change the horrifying reality of who is actually responsible for John O'Keefe’s murder.

Sgt Sean Goode was working as a patrol supervisor in Canton PD dispatch when John O'Keefe was murdered. He was at the computer desk when Brian Higgins walked into dispatch around 1:30am (both denying or not remembering this happened).

He took Kerry Robert's 5am non-emergency call and Jen McCabe's 6am 911 call when they found O'Keefe on Brian Alberts front lawn at 34 Fairview Rd.

Goode called Kelly Dever to take over for dispatch so he could go to the scene. He also called Lank and Gallagher regarding McCabe's 911 call.

He was the third officer on the scene.

He claimed to have brought Karen Read to his cruiser to warm up and briefly questioned her (this is when McCabe claimed Read told her to google "hos long to die in cold").

Goode was welcomed into Albert's home with Lank for an interview.

Goode supplied the leaf blower.

He changed the image on his report from a photo taken 1/29/22 of the road berm to a photo taken 2/4/22 of a taillight piece over a shoeprint (the same piece Chief Berkowicz found as he was "driving by" the Alberts).

He was named the primary investigator for Canton PD by the Massachusetts State Police CARS (reconstruction) unit.

Sgt Sean Goode's name is all over the murder investigation of John O'Keefe .. and not enough people are talking about it.
