Yes, this is expensive. Yes, it’s pretty large. Yes, this is stunning. But in most places, this is not allowed as of right and still requires a cumbersome process that only makes it more expensive. Middle housing is diverse. It offers housing diversity. It’s not a silver bullet to housing affordability but it’s required and can empower small scale builders to do this rather than simply building single family homes and duplexes.
This is your Fall reminder that librarians are some of the most helpful and wonderful people in the world. They're critical to public knowledge and the infrastructure that enables it.

I find it fascinating that the creator economy allows people to find and fuel their tribes.
One person sells information, the other clothes, another kitchenware, and blue light glasses.
People can pursue their interests, build meaningful products, and sustain their lifestyle.
As the Federal Liberal Cabinet meets in Charlottetown for a reset on housing, I am as optimistic as ever that the politics is finally arriving on the crisis.

We just need mass war-time-style efforts to address climate change, housing, and healthcare while taming rising toxic polarization, high consumer debt, stagnant wages, a drug poisoning crisis, weak industrial output, growing hate crimes, & unaffordability.
The best kind of public hearing is no public hearing. Info sessions give a chance for informed comment without the cheap talk. Actionable community plans provide certainty & transparency from government.
