The other half of this is that “independent” candidates don’t offer a coherent way of running the country.
Political parties offer alternative directions for Ireland, and there are more policy differences between them than you might think (as we’ll see in the #GE24 manifestos).
@AnMailleach Crazy article.
"The upshot is that those who are single and child-free have far less autonomy over their money by virtue of their parental status."
Since when does anyone dead have autonomy over any money...
Giving 400k to a friend and them getting "only" 275k. Bo-hoo
Some of the reasons why I have thrown my name in the ring to stand as a Dail candidate in Dublin Rathdown in the coming election. If, like me, u live in our constituency I am asking for your No 1 vote. If you are a FG, FF, Green, Labour or SD voter please lend me your No 1 to signal u support inheritance tax abolition. Help make a difference. https://t.co/Asmv9c89Ni
I’m of the view that the government are able to let this fester because the economy is generally doing well. If the economy was faltering and joblessness was on the up, @SimonHarrisTD would intervene and solve this overnight so as to be seen to be promoting enterprise & tourism.
Overheard in player dining:
Worker one, motioning to friend: "That's the guy who always say hi."
Worker two: "I love that guy. He always like, "Hey buddy what's up?' He remembers me each year."
Worker one: "Nicest guy. What's his name again?"
Worker two: "That's Nadal."
Wimbledon has abolished the use of line judges, replacing human officials with artificial intelligence at next year’s championships. In alignment with the ATP, the All England Club has decided to install electronic line calling on all courts. Exclusive: https://t.co/r4X4z67pl3
@John_360__@LCreighton 1/3 would imply FG, FF and greens are equal partners which they clearly are not.
What evidence do you have for your claim that they are most fiscally responsible ?
I'm an election junkie. But I'm finding now that I loath campaigns as wave after wave of lowest common denominator guff spews from all political orifices.
Don't bother with debates.
Instead, have party leaders questioned for an hour by a panel on the detail of their policies.
Every party obsessed with increasing spending whilst shrinking our tax base and making us more reliant on the big multinationals to fund our health, pension and welfare systems. 2-3 of them leave and we either have to slash social spending or sharply increase tax on workers.
@jasonomahony Re the policy about pensioners - AFAIK pensioners don't pay PRSI ?
Hate these sort of policies in any case- everyone should have to pay the same amount of tax regardless of age.
