The conversation continues beyond the podium!
Audience voices at #AFREhealth26 are raising important questions about the responsible use of AI in clinical practice.
‘Do not let AI rob you of your critical thinking.” It should actually make you more of a critical thinker!!
Another key question: As AI helps clinicians access information faster, how do we ensure technology strengthens—not replaces—the human connection with patients?
If AI is here to transform healthcare, how do we make sure the patient remains at the centre? All the questions were answered
What are your thoughts? What questions would you ask?

“The Parasitic Mind by Gad Saad”
An extremely engaging and much needed dose of reality. Loved the occasional humor and its evidence-based approach to addressing the challenges of the modern era.
Thank you @elonmusk for this great recommendation.
7 lessons from the book 🧵
Before marriage, I mastered the silent treatment. It took nothing for me to shrug off an emotion or confrontation against a wall of silence. I used to think silence worked; at least, we are not arguing, right?
Mombasa cement & philanthropic owner Hasu Patel means well and they have done alot for Mombasa and also Kilifi.
Fencing schools to keep children safe and by extension keep off grabbers is a good thing. Mombasa beautification and key project was the smelly dirty Kibarani. I salute you Hasu we can't thank you enough.
What they need to revisit is the idea of giving free food to even the able bodied. This means the influx into Mombasa Island is getting out of hand . Sunday is the day of handout so most of these recipients come all the way from Kilifi & Kwale . They don't want to return to their homes so majority opt to remain on the island.
Drive at night and entire Haile Sellasie road and Moi Avenue including Digi road and even Nkurumah street is full of people ( I refuse to call them street families) sleeping. Why ? They are waiting for the Sunday handout.
So what happens rest of the days ?
Women and Children turn to begging hence the huge number of beggers lately . What about the young people? Well they get creative and start mob mugging which we have seen lately.
I have been reading this book " When helping hurts " by Steve Corbett & Brian Fikkert. They are missionaries and they don't believe in handout just like Muhammad Yunus of Grameen.
Free things are never treasured, give a man a fish and you feed him for a day but teach the same man how to fish and feed him for life .
These people can be helped in better ways , it should be tied to work and reward. They can be given the same food or even payment by say cleaning up Ukunda, Kilifi , Malindi, Likoni et al and the payment happens in those localties to avoid this mess.
What about feeding school children to keep them in class?
Initial help is Relief and that happens during a calamity like floods , earthquake etc. Once relief has happened you move into Rehabilitation which is teaching a man how to fish . Kenya coast has rich soil and good weather what about farm inputs, bee keeping +++ its long term but rewarding.
I buy my fruits from street vendors, they are not begging or stealing. I am afraid this culture of free food is not helping these people if anything it is hurting them more hence Hasu needs to go back to the drawing board.
Again I repeat free things are never appreciated and we should NOT encourage a dependant society.
I salute this men they dont look young but work so hard to earn a living. They are not waiting for handout or to mug others. Then look at the Haile sellasie based muggers who didn't spare the young man who went to seek protection at the temple opposite Quickmart. On the other hand some of these muggers are Mombasa born kids hence I applaud the Mombasa County Commissioner for moving in fast and 150 of them were arrested
As always I choose to remain an optimist
