"When talent meets talent, talent is no longer enough.
Now it's about character.
Now it's about preparation.
Now it's about consistency.
Now it's about who is relentless -who wants it the most." @inkyjohnson
Talent is required, but habits and character divide good from great.
"You build confidence by doing really hard things over and over, because that's your intent.
That's your focus.
The game honors toughness."-Brad Stevens
Toughness isn't doing it once.
Toughness is doing it every day, because 'every day is the right way'.
"Every team trains.
Every team lifts.
Every team conditions.
Every team practices.
It's not that you do those things.
It's at what standards you do those things that make the difference." @janssenleader
“Mediocre people don’t like high achievers. High achievers don’t like mediocre people. If everybody doesn’t buy into the same principles and values at the same high standard, you’re never going to be successful. Get the right guys on the bus and get the wrong guys off,” Nick Saban

Being a Head Coach is HARD Work.
Many parents do not understand the work it takes.
I have talked to MANY coaches over my career.
Here are 9 Things Coaches Want Parents to Understand.
[THREAD] 🧵
What a day for the Sunnyvale Girls!!! Lady Raiders basketball moves on to the state tournament and we have 8 of 15 girls medal in the regional powerlifting meet and 1 advance to the state meet. Long day but I am very proud!
WE ARE GOING TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT!!! 🎉💙💛
The Lady Raiders defeated Pinkston, 51-36, to capture the Region 2 Championship! Micah Russell led all scorers with 23 points. Alli McAda finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Nilaya Gordon had 8 points and 4 asssits. #JOY
To perform well under pressure, you need to forget about winning and losing, and just focus on giving your best effort and having fun in the present moment!
As a captain, you are the heart and soul of your team. When your teammates are lacking motivation or confidence, you need to inspire them with your words and actions!
When you're part of a team, it's no longer about you. It's about the team. Don’t let your ego cause you to view every decision/interaction as being about you, your wants and needs and expectations. Align your vision with the team’s vision.
Be about the team. Humility is the way.
You can’t be negative after making mistakes in games, but you can’t be indifferent either. Be motivated to correct your mistakes and play better, but stay calm and positive at the same time.
Players: You WILL fail. A lot. Don't get used to it, but don't allow it to ruin the next opportunity. You can get recruited off of how you fail. Coaches will have you for 4yr they want to see you fail & see who you are! How do you respond? Do you fold? Or do you adjust & compete?
Upperclassman-Your job is to be a leader! Help the younger guys! Your role is NOT, I repeat NOT to be the cool guy that makes the underclassman's lives miserable. Represent yourself, your parents, your coaches, and your program the RIGHT WAY!
