📢4 billionaires hold more wealth than 750 million people

📢In 2000, Africa had no billionaires.

📢Today, it has 23, whose combined wealth has soared by 56% in just the past five years, reaching a staggering $112.6 billion.

🔴Despite soaring poverty, African governments show least commitment to reducing inequality, and that commitment has declined since 2022.

🔇A rigged system, tax injustice, and declining public investments are fueling a silent crisis across the continent.

We wrapped up the joint monitoring visit to Lolwe Island, where we met with the Subcounty leadership (LC3 Chairperson, Assistant CAO & CDO).

They lauded Oxfam & partners @cehurduganda, @FemmeForteUg & @RHUganda for prioritizing implementing on the island, which is often overlooked by most development actors, which takes 3 hours by ferry from the mainland!

The discussions highlighted:
✅ The project's impact in sensitizing communities on SGBV & SRHR
⚠️The biggest challenge: No secondary school on the island, leading to high school dropout rates and increased vulnerability of young girls and women who need access to #SRH services.
