A lot of special stuff from @JustinVerlander in Detroit today. I totally understand the love they have for him because of the magic he brought to that city.
But, this is the magic he brought to mine.
Houston LITERALLY loves you forever, legend.
If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend the @HoustonChron's exclusive op-ed from @emmanume about Mayor John Whitmire's private text messages about the Austin St. bike lane and how they contradict the public justifications. 1/
Yes, besides, you know Whitmire doing all this…
1. Shepherd-Durham Redesign: Paused mid-construction, risking federal funds, to review road diet and bike lane plans.
2. Montrose Boulevard Reconstruction: Halted, with shared-use paths removed, reducing pedestrian focus.
3. Houston Avenue Medians: Removed at $730,000 cost, citing traffic flow over pedestrian safety.
4. West Alabama Street: Bike lanes scrapped to preserve car lanes.
5. University Corridor BRT: Canceled by METRO board, despite voter approval in METRONext.
6. Gulfton and Inner Katy BRT: Deprioritized, with uncertain futures.
7. 11th Street Bikeway: Under review, with concerns about traffic impact.
8. Antoine Drive: Shared-use paths eliminated.
9. Westheimer and Crocker Crosswalk: Set for removal, prompting community backlash.
Women couldn’t have their own credit until 1974. Marital rape became illegal nationwide in 1994.
We are ONE generation into women having a CHANCE at life & it’s proved so intolerable America would rather end itself than allow such a thing to continue.
The Pope is not mincing words. 👀
"What is built on the basis of force, and not on the truth about the equal dignity of every human being, begins badly and will end badly."
-Francis throws down the gauntlet-
The pope just published a letter to the US Bishops about President Trump’s polices, and Vice President Vance’s rhetoric, about immigration.
It’s direct and clear. And feels a little unprecedented to me.

I’ve been all over the country in the last month.
And I get asked the same question, over and over again:
“I disagree with Kamala’s position on the war in Gaza. How can I vote for her?”
Here is my answer:
All: I have put together a list of generic weather, climate, and tropics leaning follows on a list. Everyone on this list is trustworthy. It is an incomplete list, but you can be assured you will get quality information: https://t.co/hxkPhOEBIy
As we continue our unprecedented response to Hurricane Helene, the nation is beginning to understand that impacted areas have been the target of a relentless vortex of disinformation, dialed up by bad actors and platforms like X. 🧵
So, how is Centerpoint Energy doing in restoring power to its customers following Hurricane Beryl (2024) vs Hurricane Ike (2008)? I researched @chron archives from 2008 to find how many CPE customers had their power restored by end of day post landfall. Here is the comparison:

As someone who is still recovering from a gunshot to the head, I am heartbroken and infuriated that Ralph Yarl now faces a lifetime of recovery.
At 16 years old. For simply ringing a doorbell.
We cannot continue to be a nation defined by gun violence and injustice.
@JRogalskiKHOU@KHOU I was in line at a polling place in central Houston when they ran out of ballots and we were turned away. Like others, I want answers on how this happened. But it's irresponsible reporting to frame this story as a partisan problem on anecdotal evidence. Do better.
