@sama I had 5.6 Sol build a live Three-body Problem simulation of the Trisolaris system: three suns, chaotic orbits, configurable physics, with the occasional planetary destruction. ☀️☀️☀️💥🌍
@LauraDeming At some point, that book may mention the renormalization group, which might interest you even more than QFT itself, given some of the biological thought experiments you’ve mentioned about various length scales.
I recently wrote a book with @theudaykamath and @emara_wael about deep learning's Transformer architecture. It's a deep dive into the original architecture and the various ways researchers have modified the original. It's coming out on May 25th. https://t.co/taWnY12As0
I’ve been using #AnnotatedEquations in my recent papers. I think it really adds to the readability and understanding of the math.
Here are some examples. It uses #tikz in #latex.
Let me know if you like it. Happy for any feedback. [GitHub link: next tweet]

@moxie Aren't #Bitcoin wallets the clients? Some mobile and hardware wallets can be connected to a private electrum server so the wallet interacts with the blockchain only thru their node.
If you want to understand why TensorFlow is the way it is, you have to go back to the ancient times. In 2012, Google created a system called DistBelief that laid out their vision for how large-scale training would work. It was the basis for TF. 🧵

@RoamBrain@RoamResearch Roam changed how I take notes on articles and research papers. It lets me make connections between them over time and even helped me write a book. The SRS and query features were esp useful.
What's really impressive about this paper—apart from the incredible results—is that it doesn't come from an army of Facebook or Google researchers with a warehouse full of machines.
Just two PhD students and their advisor, and 12 hours of training on a single GPU in Erlangen.
A little perspective for those who support taxing unrealized capital gains:
Let's say you bought a house at 500k and it's now worth 750k. With a 20% tax - you'd suddenly owe $50,000...even though you never sold your home and don't actually have that money.
Reasonable, right?🙃
Every year or two I remember what’s probably the most scarily/stunningly impressive linguistic feat I’ve ever seen. Every time, I think I must be mistaken, then I read the thing, and I just shake my head in disbelief. It’s been twenty years. Let me tell you about it.
