Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war.  Americans do not want this. They do not want another war in pursuit of regime change. They want relief from the affordability crisis. They want peace.

I am focused on making sure that every New Yorker is safe. I have been in contact with our Police Commissioner and emergency management officials. We are taking proactive steps, including increasing coordination across agencies and enhancing patrols of sensitive locations out of an abundance of caution.

Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city — you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders. You will be safe here.

NEWS | Israeli Deputy Knesset Speaker Calls for Killing All Palestinian Men in Gaza, Wiping Out Jenin

Nissim Vaturi, Deputy Speaker of Israel’s Parliament and a member of Netanyahu’s Likud party, told ultra-Orthodox radio station Kol BaRama:

➤ “Who is innocent in Gaza? Civilians went out and slaughtered people in cold blood … We need to separate the children and women and kill the adults in Gaza, we are being too considerate,” Vaturi said.

➤ He described people in Gaza as “scum and subhumans,” claiming “no one in the world wants the civilians in Gaza, everyone is pushing them into Israel.”

➤ “We will soon turn Jenin into Gaza," he said, adding that the Palestinian captives released under the Gaza ceasefire deal should be sent there so they can be "eliminated" by Israeli forces. “Erase Jenin. Don’t start looking for the terrorists ... if there's a terrorist in a house, take it out." 

Jenin is currently under a brutal 35-day Israeli siege, with tanks entering the city Monday.
